DuPont Laminate Flooring
Ok, I must first start off by stating that in no way do we recommend one product over another. However, I have used DuPont Laminate Flooring. I liked the product and it worked out well for my project.
One of the nice features of DuPont Laminate flooring is that it is available at The Home Depot. Aside from that, it is a very durable, easy to install product. DuPont has what they call an “Interplank” Design. What this does in effect is create virtually seamless joints for a great finished look. They also have a MicroBevel technology that really brings the floor to life, giving it nice added depth. Plus you can’t beat the fact that it is glue less product so installation and cleanup is easy. Also, each plank comes with a foam underlayment which helps in absorption of sound.
DuPont laminate flooring offers their wood laminate flooring in two levels, Real Touch Elite and Real Touch Classic. The difference being features offered on the products. For example, Classic does not come with the underlayment and the color/wood selection is much more limited
So let’s look at some of these features more in detail.
Embossed-In-Register
DuPont has created a finish in which they apply wood and ceramic textures to their laminate floor products. What this attempts to do is create a natural and authentic look. It also aids in traction and improves slip resistance.
JointGuard
This is glue less system (just a note, most all laminate flooring is glue less) that is supposed to help protect the joints between laminate pieces. They do this by creating a slight indent on the edges of the planks. This allows for glue less process and creates a no mess cleanup. However, some people have complained that his feature can also be a bit difficult when trying to snap the pieces together. Sometimes it takes bit of “persuasion”.
Comfort Underlayment
This is the part that is a time saver. Some people do not mind the extra step of putting down the underlayment. They buy the roll and spread ii out. However, DuPont Laminate Flooring comes with the underlayment already attached to each flooring plank. This underlayment provides a comfort step and also reduces noise. For some reason, it is not available up in Canada.
InterPlank Design
DuPont’s InterPlank design contains what they call a Self Alignment System. This is a design which allows for a continuous wood grain strip across plank. The system also comes in wide planks which can reduce the installation time for your project. In addition to a faster install time, they claim this feature will eliminate unsightly patterns no matter which combination of the four planks you use. It creates an illusion of one continuous wood plank across the entire seam.
LongStrip
This feature allows you to run one wood strip up to 18 feet before you see any break in the pattern.
DuPont Laminate Flooring comes in many different woods. Just to name a few selections they offer; Cherry, Hickory, Maple, Oak, Beech and Walnut. This doesn’t even take into account the stone laminate products they offer.
Hopefully we have given you a little information that will be helpful during your search for laminate flooring options.
